I have always thought that I am quite productive but more recently I have felt that I have lost this and spend time procrastinating. I recently saw something on Facebook about how to be more productive every day, so I have made the conscious decision to try and take this on board. I have been doing this since 6th January 2025.
So every morning, the first thing I do is following the 3:3:3 plan.
What is the 3:3:3 plan?
- Spend 3 hours on your most important project
- Do 3 shorter tasks
- Do 3 maintenance activities
I write down under each of the above headings, what these tasks are today. I ensure that I cover all areas of my life, including work, personal and home life in these. I have always had a “to do” list that never goes away. So I have taken the things off of that that I need to do but the ones that are occupying my mind the most. That way it takes some of my stress away.
POMODO TECHNIQUE
For the 3 hours I spend on my most important project, I set a timer for 25 minutes and focus on my project and then take a 5 minute break. This has helped me massively in improving my productivity on a daily basis.
2 MINUTE RULE
The final thing I have started to do is the 2 minute rule. If a task is going to make me less than 2 minutes then do them first. Some of my maintenance or shorter tasks fall into this so I do them first.
Just doing these 3 things have improved my productivity significantly. Writing them down is important and then being able to cross them off is satisfying and makes me feel less stressed and that I have achieved something.
Have a go today and see if these can help you. If you use other techniques that work, then please let me know.
